Why I love the MIS Society (Management of Information Systems Society) and Business program at CSUSM

As I work late in the office tonight playing catch up with tweets, news, and last years key items, I transfer my critical notes from my 2008 notebook to my 2009 notebook. I do this every year- it helps me stay organized- kind of like my own personal mind map (but for business of course).

One of the things i learned last year during my alumni Cal State San Marcos's MIS society meeting that really stuck to me was a solid definition of what a Business Systems Analyst is. So i figured it deserved a blog posting because it resonated with me exactly of who i am ( and what my major defines me as- by having a Business Degree with an emphasis in MIS) and what i am trying to accomplish for my clients.

Definition of Business Systems Analyst-
  • Broad business and real world prospective
  • Possess strong analytical, technical, and critical thinking skills
  • Interpersonal communication and team skills (orally and written)
  • Strong ethical principles
  • Practical emphasis in designing and implementing information technology solutions that enhance organizational performance
  • Designs business and information systems

So there you have it folks- my degree & I summarized. My current focus is doing exactly the above for businesses- but focusing on their Internet marketing and online marketing strategy. This is where a huge paradigm shift is occurring and i will help educate businesses on the how, why, and implementation of this new Internet marketing system for their business. The system ties together the current trend in social networking and social media for business. If you want to check our this system we have developed, click here: Social Networking for Business
Thanks for listening- enjoy
